Innovative Staff Solutions has a direct hire opportunity for a Design Engineer with our client located in the Mattoon, IL. area! Our client has been in business for over 150+ years and is one of the world’s largest turbocharger manufacturers.  This position requires strong critical thinking skills and working in a collaborative team environment.  

POSITION SUMMARY 

To design and document turbochargers and their components as produced or marketed. This includes the creation of original designs, as well as those received.  

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Creation of original drawings of turbochargers and their components using a Prints with GD via 3D Solid Modeling CAD Programming and 2D print with GD&T 
  • Adapt existing designs from company to current customer needs 
  • Redraw original designs using U.S. formats and specifications 
  • Assign all part numbers for production and prototype parts; maintain a log of all part numbers and assemblies 
  • Receive and catalog all technical materials, drawings, and specifications in conjunction with the liaison engineer 
  • Assign engineering change request numbers. Keep and maintain a log of all proposed changes 
  • Generate engineering release notices and change notices 
  • Provide drawings as required for concept turbochargers and their installation 
  • Maintain all Computer systems, assist all employees with computer training  
  • 1Understand GD&T and be able to apply it 
  • Accountable for assigning part numbers, ECR numbers, EWR numbers, preparation of design drawings and CAD files, filing and cataloging of drawings and technical materials 
  • Utilize geometric tolerancing of parts and use judgment in interpreting engineer’s instructions per EWR’s and ECR’s 
  • Interface with other departments to communicate design intent and continuous improvement ideas 
  • Comply with all safety rules, policies and procedures, including wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any defective PPE

REQUIREMENTS 

  • High school diploma, associate's degree preferred 
  • 5 or more years CAD experience; 2D and 3D preferred using SolidWorks or NX 
  • Be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to wear proper safety gear/PPE as needed 
  • Repetitive standing, bending, turning, and twisting for extended periods of time 
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol test and background screen 
  • Use of both hands, arms, and shoulders (full range of motion)
