Innovative Staff Solutions has a direct hire opportunity for a Product Engineer with our client located in the Mattoon, IL. area! Our client has been in business for over 150+ years and is one of the world’s largest turbocharger manufacturers.  This position requires strong critical thinking skills and working in a collaborative team environment.   

POSITION SUMMARY  

Responsible for design, development, testing, and documentation of multiple concurrent projects in support of existing production programs, new applications, aftermarket programs, and new product research and development. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Design new turbocharger and supercharger components as required 
  • Perform structural and aerodynamic analysis as needed, as well as layout or CAD system 
  • Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes, as well as work with suppliers to achieve design goals 
  • Develop turbocharger and supercharger components to meet design performance, cost and durability targets 
  • Specify test criteria and procedures; design special fixtures, instrumentation, and equipment as required; conduct or supervise running of tests, analyze data, write reports, and implement design changes required 
  • Perform turbocharger “matching” to recommend optimum turbocharger specifications for customer rating requirements. Matching includes selection of turbo frame size, compressor sizing turbine housing A/R determination, selection of bearing housing type, as well as special components, such as wastegate and variable geometry turbines 
  • Act as a liaison with customers and suppliers to promote successful programs 
  • Work with engine manufacturers and Marketing to provide turbos that meet the customers goals and provide company with a competitive advantage 
  • Create and lead technical presentations in support of program objectives and acquisition of new programs 
  • Direct engineers, technicians and designers in support of program objectives and timelines 
  • Work to obtain necessary support, both engineering and hardware, to satisfy customers’ needs. Work with suppliers to obtain high quality, low cost parts 
  • Support existing production programs. Evaluate and implement engineering change requests; trouble shoot problems in assembly or production testing, prepare and review production releases 
  • Develop, maintain, and support engineering department systems. Maintain engineering report system, engineering work requests, and engineering inventory 
  • Supervise and maintain records on engineering test equipment calibration, service, and regular maintenance 

 

REQUIREMENTS  

  • BS Degree in Engineering 
  • 1-5 years of engineering experience, preferably in product engineering 
  • Be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs.  
  • Ability to wear proper safety gear/PPE as needed  
  • Repetitive standing, bending, turning, and twisting for extended periods of time  
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol test and background screen  
  • Use of both hands, arms, and shoulders (full range of motion)
